Found a pair of 13.6-28 turf tires for my 860. Is there any downside to the one size larger? Will not be pulling heavy loads or plowing. Mostly using an auger or light FE loader work. Thanks!

Thats the only size I have ever had on my 841 since I got it way back in the early 80s. I use it as a loader tractor and it does just fine with those on it

I believe that that the 860s came with optional tire sizes. You could have ordered them with either the equivilant of 12.4x28 or 13.6x28.
You'll have slightly higher ground speed if that matters.

The Ford 860 came with size 12-28 tires, an old size scheme, which sized the tires according to rim width. Today's tire size has been changed from 12-28 to 13.6-28. you have the correct size.

The 12X28s of the old days are now the 12.4X28 not the 13.6X28. The old number for the 13.6X28 was 13X28

I don't think so Old.
The way I understand it it goes like this:
10x28 rim uses 11.2x28tire 11x28 rim uses 12.4x28 tire and 12x28 rim uses 13.6x28 tire

I'm talking old/new tire size not rim size. The old number was say 12X28 which is now 12.4X28 and the old 13X28 is now the 13.6X28. The old tire size and the new do at times get confusing

I still disagree.
If the rim size is 11x28 and the old tire size was 11x28 then the new tire size is 12.4x28

But the rim was 10X28 for the 11X28 tire but now that tire is 11.2X28. At one time I had a graph that told old/new tire sizes but I lost it years ago plus that was back when I changed tires for a living, which has been a long time back. Now as per the 601/801 owners manual there where as options for tires on the 601/801 tractors 10-28, 11-28, 12-28, 13-28, and 14-28. New tie numbers for them are now 11.2-28, 12.4-28, 13.6-28 and 14.9-28. Don't remember what the 10-28 would be now

I'm right, you're right. He's right. No he's wrong.
We need to get someone else to chime in on this.
Suggest which forum to ask the question and I'll post it.

Ya on the old/new tire sizes it get hard to figure out some times. I know on my Oliver Super 88 it has one tire that is a 13-38 and the other that is a 13.9-38 and they are both the same size but some times with the small ones like the 28s they do things different. As I said hard to figure out with out the chart to be 100% sure
