Wow! It's a good thing you turned around to go back and check that one out!

Yes Jim, it was good that I went back. I wasn't looking for anything special on it- I just basically wanted to see exactly what it was and find out if it might be a real bargain. When I saw the serial number I just about fainted and fell over backwards. I didn't need to reconfirm anything as I positively knew the X01 series started at 1001.
Now I wonder about all of the other tractors I've passed. I see over on the N Tractor site that the earliest 9N known is #141. When I was leaving home for work on Monday I saw a 9N with a For Sale sign beside the road just outside town. When I go back home tomorrow evening I guess I'll be pulling off the road and checking serial numbers.

I believe 9N141 belongs to Burt Hudson who hangs out here from time to time. However the earliest 9N s/n I've seen photos of is 9N16 owned by Dwight Emstrom. This photo of it was borrowed from John Smith's site.

That makes it a litle tougher finding the earliest 9N- I thought I only had to beat #141 but now I have to find #15 or less!

No one will ever beat you to the earliest X01. Don't get greedy!

Awsome! That is the 2nd tractor produced in the X01 series !

Super find!

It may be the 1st one for sale as the SN 1001 may have been a corporate machine (?).

Now you HAVE to restore it!

That is my next question- does anyone know anything about X01 <>1001<>? What model it was? Where it is?

BUT!..... What's with those weights that no one has ever seen? Or very few have seen them anyway.

Is that #002 or 1002?
Either way it is very early.
Nice find!

It may say 1002 but it is still the 2nd X01 built since they started with 1001.
Sept 1957 model
