Hi all. I have recently found a Ford 4400 Backhoe in the paper, and was wondering if anyone had any information on them. This one is fairly inexpensive, compared to other backhoes that I've seen, so I was wondering if they were prone to mechanical problems, or if they had weak hydraulics on the digger arm. If anyone had a picture, that would be great. Just out of curiosity, what's the average price for one, year unknown?

Thanks,

68 Mag

I own a 4400 backoe.

This tractor has been a very dependable tractor.

Provided the fluids were maintained and engine not overheated the unit should do you a good job.

The only draw back to this tractor is the rear ground clearance directly underneath the backhoe pivot and having to climb to and from the drivers seat to the rear seat.

The only thing ever done to this unit was normal maintenance.

It is of the same era as the 4000 ag tractor. it should be a good unit, except if it is gas the dist. is hard to get to.

I had a 4400 with loader and 3 point hitch, no hoe. It was a good tractor. I sold it for $7000. The 4400 hoes I've seen are advertised for $4500-$7500. I bought a 4500 for $7500 and it's a hoss.
