So has anyone seen weights like this? I can't find any stampings on it or the other one like it...doesn't mean that something isn't covered by multiple layers of paint. They mount under the fender mounting pads (or above, I guess, if you want to raise your fenders a few inches. And they're HEAVY! I'm no Schwartzenegger, but I can pick up and move about 150 lbs with some difficulty. I can pick these weights up, but I can't go anywhere with 'em! :D
I'd just like to know what I have here. I'm thinking of using these weights in conjunction with a set of wheel weights on "my" '63 4000 I use for tractor pulls. I'd like to try to step up to the 5500-lb class...I seem to have plenty of horsepower, but no traction at all.

Anyway, if anyone knows anything about these weights, let me know...I'm all ears!

Pat

Dean...well, it looks like you were pretty close! I got the trusty bathroom scale out (which only seems to be accurate if I'm standing on it, not my wife! ) and came up with 163# per weight.

And showcrop...thanks for the tip. You're not the first person ever to tell me 28" (or in my case, 14.9 x 24...the tractor is a 4130 LD Industrial) wheels and tires aren't the best for pulling duty. But then I watch those antique tractor pulls on RFD-TV and I see older Fords hiking up the front wheels...I dunno. I don't think I'd ever get 38s on the back without it looking goofy. OTOH, if I can find a brake control valve for "my" 6000 this year, I'd MUCH rather try pulling with that!

Hi Pat, rather than going up to 5500 with that 4000 I would suggest bigger tires. I used 16.9 28s for one season on my 960 then I went to 15.5x38s now I usually come out about even on power and traction in the 3500 and 4000 classes good luck

Are these the weights Walt lists on his website? in reply to Dean, 05-04-2008 07:47:06
Walt has some axle weights listed at 304 lbs for the pair. Is this what he's selling?

Pat---I thought these were the same, but I believe are "close".

They mount on top of the bottom fender mounting bracket behind the wheels.

These were taken off a one owner Ferguson TO-20 and are for sale (not mine) for $750.

These weights and yours are the only ones that I have ever seen.

Tim
