3600 3 point stabilizer bar problems

I have a 3600 that we use for shredding, discing, fertilizing. The stabilizer bars are very hard to re-attach when I switch implements: you have to push the implement way to one side while another person put the bar on. I see no adjustment mechanism. When I disc without stabilizers, limiting chains don't stop linkage from rubbing rear tires on turns.

Question: Is stabilizer problem normal, or have I bent/broken something? Can I just shorten limiting chains by taking a link or two out and discing w/o stabilizer.

Carl,

There is one way to fix this problem - get adjustable length stabilizer bars; I did - end of problem; I love them. I found them at a number of different on-line supply houses. I can look up the supplier I used if you are interested.

Mine only fit on a specific side. If I try to put the wrong one on it's an absolute bear but only requires a minor kick when on the proper side. Also makes a difference what way the angle faces (up or down and forward or aft end) Sounds strange but it works

There are adjustable length stabizer bars. I have some and use one when I have a piece of equipment that is difficult to hook up. They look like a giant turnbuckle or top link. My source was a person on the board in Colorado but I can't remember his name much less his email. Maybe someone else can help.

The chain links get worn and need replaced with the correct length new ones. Do not take links out because when you raise the 3 point the chains will be too tight and strain your pump. All major brand equipment should have the same width 3 point dimensions, I know some supply store equipment has a narrower width. Do your stabilizer bars have a bend in them near one end so they clear the rear axle housing?

Stabilizer bars are supposed to be tight to keep the implement straight but it sounds like your limiter chains are way too long. Take out a link or 2 to keep disc out of tires.
