I"m considering buying a 3 point disc for my 860. I would like a 6 or 6 1/2 ft. Is there any concern with certain brands or designs that the disc are too close to the rear tires. I mention this because the lower 2pt arms don"t extend but only a few inches past the rear tires. Depending upon the brand of disc, some set the front row of colters back farther. Should this be a concern or any preferences in disc design? Any other suggestions is appreciated.

One thing to take into consideration on the extended model is that it would lighten the front end of the tractor (wheelies easier). Don't know if you would have that problem or not, if so add front end weight. I have a loader on my tractor so I don't have any issues.

I have an NAA with a 7 foot disc. It is international brand, not the international that you are thinking of, but a knock off. Made in Cincinatti OH. Pretty good quality, heavy built, adjustable gang settings, however, it does not have sealed bearings on the gangs. Not a big issue unless you plan on using it on a lot of acres. It has the adjustable gangs, I have mine adjusted to the most aggressive bite available. It misses the rear tires by about an inch or two. The most important thing to keep in mind is to use a stabilizer bar. If I didn't have one on, the disc would swing side to side and take chunks out of the rear tire.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the disc, a lot of dealers that carry small line equipment have them, or have access to them. It's a nice fit for the NAA and works up the ground just fine.

About $700 new. I know used ones sell for less, but I had zero luck finding one in decent shape for any less than half of what the new one cost. It's all relative to what you want and how much you want to spend.

Thanks for the advice. Regarding the gangs coming in contact with the rear tires, your advice was just what I was looking for. One nicer model at the local fleet store has the 3pt extended out a little further than the cheaper model.

I as well have had little success finding a used disc at the price I was willing to pay, granted I have been quite fussy about what I wanted. Well yesterday I finally pulled the trigger and bought a new 6 1/2 ft disc. New price was $620, but it seemed more reasonable when compared to a rear mount tiller. I'm sure it will last my lifetime. Regardless, I'm anxious to try it out.

Brand is a King Kutter. I used it tonight for the first time.. just in a good sized garden. It worked awesome, granted I'm in light sandy soil and with very little weeds, so I guess it should work well. I'm pleased with it and happy I bought it. It has the notched colters in the front and smooth in the rear, so it should cut well.

Check out the attached link for a pic of it.
