I'm looking at a 1965 Ford 3000 (gas, 4 speed) with a Superior loader. Any information about the reliability and value of either the tractor or the loader would be greatly appreciated. I'm not familiar with the Superior loader brand; runs off a front pump and uses the loader tubing for the hydraulic reservoir. Is this a light-duty or heavy-duty loader?

Well, I got my questions answered when I went to see/drive the tractor. Now I have a new question for those of you who have loaders on your tractors: Do all loader tractors steer like a water-logged barge or was the Superior loader too heavy for the Ford 3000? This tractor had loaded tires for traction and power steering, but it just felt really off balance and this was with nothing in the bucket.

Sounds like the power steering is not working.I have a 4000 with a heavy duty Freeman loader and it steers like a baby carriage.

Thanks for the input. I've read posts on this board that indicate the 3000 front axle is not strong enough for heavy loader work. Based upon your response, I'm inclined to believe that there may be too much wear on the steering components - even though the power steering seems to be working properly.
