I am overhauling what I think is a 3000 Ford Diesel and the parts dept. thinks I'm blind and can't read my numbers correctly. Below the gear shift on the transmission is D 2NN 7006 A also on the Trans. housing behind the starter are the #'s C 4013 C, 3K15B, C 398547 these # are all below one another. On the engine block is C 539553. I have no hoods on this tractor and I'm not certain what yr. it is or if I have parts of two tractors? I have a parts manual but the Numbers aren't fitting like they should. Help!!!

Piece of cake. D2NN 7006 A is your transmission casting number. Disregard this for parts ordering. C4013C is your model code - it means 3000 tractor, utility, diesel, live 540 PTO, and 8 speed transmission. 3K15B is your date code - translated this means your tractor was built on October 15, 1973. C398547 is your tractor serial number - it is simply a sequential number the factory assigned your tractor as it rolled down the line (C however, means it was built in the States). C539553 is your engine serial number - again just a sequential number (C in this case means 3000 engine). I don't know why the dealer is having trouble with your numbers, they all make perfect sense to me. 99% of the time the only number the parts department needs for ordering parts is the build date, in your case October 1973.

Jesse, can you do the same for me?
Ford Backhoe, was told it is a 3550. Has seized a piston and I am starting a rebuild.

Tractor#: C425529
Model: K5011F
Unit: 4F21??
Engine: 4E?8B
Trans: 4E22B
Rear Axle: 4D17C

Any help for after market engine parts would be useful too.

Thanks!

Thank you Bern. That answered a lot of my questions. IH tractors I know but Fords are now a new learning experience. One more question explain in detail how you got the date code-spoon feed me 3K15B. Thank you again. Jesse

3K15B - 3 is the last digit of the year. 3000's were made between 1965 and 1974, so the 3 in this case means 1973. K is the month (A is Jan., B is Feb., etc., skip I, M is Dec.) So K is October. 15 is the day of the month. B means day shift (I have never seen any other shift letter).

He may have a BSD engine. Check your value cover to see if you see something like BSD 6007. These motors are Ford factory rebuilt engines, and your normal Ford dealer will not know this.
