We just purchased a fordon dexta Model Number 957E-7066. We were going to change the oil in the gears when we drained the oil. the fill plug is right beside the shift lever The drain plug is below the shift the oil that came out was about 5 gallons and it was a grayish white color, it did not seem to be broke down because of water in the oil and did not feel gritty. My question is why would this oil be white. Was not foamy. There is another drain fill near back axle with the drain plug and the oil in this was brown. is the oil near the shifter a hydraulic oil or a gear shift oil. We are really new at this and would appreciate any help Thank you

B. Donald - welcome to the world of the Dexta Tractor. I to am a recent new owner and have really been helped by the expertise of Dell, GEO, Don (Great help on fuel filter change), Walt Tractors, and others in this discussion group. My first recommendation is for you to obtain the Operator's Manual for Dexta and Super Dexta. Go to Home Page this site and select Walt's Tractors or manuals. The number you want is F0-O-Dexta. I also have FO-201. The Operator's Manual is excellent and provides all fluid specifications, location points, etc. Per GEO, change the milky fluid (probably many years of condensation mixed with tired oil). I would encourage you to change all fluids because you probably have no way of knowing how the tractor was previously maintained. I can provide you oil filter and fuel filter numbers if needed and do not forget to clean the air filter. Also, there is a sump strainer screen that should be removed and cleaned when you do the engine oil - Get the Operator's manual. It is around $39 but worth every penny. The Opr. Manual also gives very specific steps for changing fuel filter and bleeding air out lines after. JoeD.
