I have a '65 Ford 3000 diesel. Everything functions nicely. The starter switch currently in use is the three position type. It must have been installed by a previous owner. The termostart option is clearly visible on the tractor. I would like to use it.
I have been unsuccesful in replacing it with the 5 position switch from Ford. My tractor has the thermostart element in place, but without without a 5 position switch properly wired, it will obviously not engage. I would like detailed assistance with installing the 5 position switch. Thanks

With the battery wire hooked up to the battery terminal on the switch put the switch in the heat position. Take a test light and find the post that is only on in this position. Then all you have to do is hook up the wire to the heater.
