I am seriously considering buying a ford 2000 3 cyl diesel (recently rebuilt). It has power steering, new rear tires and front tires are good. It also comes with a Wood shredder. Price is $5000 - tractor only and $6000 with 730 loader - however the loader is in pieces - support already mounted on tractor, everything else is loose. There are the two lift hydralic cyls and the short bucket cyl are mising - the fella I am buying from has two new ford cyl that he just had replaced on his new loader - he wanted longer ones. They will have to be cut down and the ends replaced but are definately new.

What do you think about this deal - I have been lokking for a used Ford or JD diesel with loader for quite a while - they seem to be scarce (even though everyone I know seems to have one. Is this a decent deal?? I live in the Austin area.

Appreciate any feedback!!

too small for a loader tractor.. a 3000 is marginal but works... but i used to have an 8n with a loader... but knowing what i know now, i would not get a 2000 w a loader... a 730 loader is a medium duty loader, will work fine but you will need to watch the front pivot pin for wear and the front wheel bearings... i replaced the front casting on my 3000 two times in 5 years... the later models had bigger pivot pins that fixed the problem.. hth.. bill
