I"ve got an old Fordson I am trying to identify. How can I tell what year it is? Are there serial numbers to look for? If so where?

The problem with Fordson serial numbers is so many engines were changed the year of the tractor may not match the year of engine which has the serial number on it.

There is information on the Fordson pages as to how you identify your model. I have a 1960 Fordson Power Major and found the serial number on the right hand side of the motor below number one cylinder injector.

Fordson serial number is located on the right side of the block just below the head between the front two manifold studs. Should be a six digit number. Look closely, it may be painted over, rusted smooth or have a gasket over it. YT has a serial number listing under "research and info" on this site.
