Hi I have a super-major,the problem seems to me as though the radiator is blocked.
When the engine is warmed, up the top of the radiator is hot(too hot to touch) and the bottom is stone cold.
I know the "major family" can suffer with air-locks in the cooling system but this is not the case.
Any help gratfully recieved.
Mark.

What you can do is
disconnect the front lights on the tractor unscrew the few bolts which hold the front of the tractor on. Take off the front of the tractor. THe radiator will be lefting standing there. Remove the hoses ... and unscrew the 2 bolts holding the radiator in. It does sound like your radiator is blocked up with sh1t. Mine due to leaking inside the engine was blocked up badly with sludgy oil. Infact it was blocked up so much the vavle at the bottom didn't even work until i shoved a small stick in there to poke out the oil. Try flushing the radiator out a few times with a hose pipe and see if anything comes out like oil or other garbage. If it is oil perhaps you could use some detergent when flushing out your radiator. When you are done the hot water test is always a good one. GO to a tap fill up a bucket or something with some fairly hot water and poor it into the radiator - you may need a funnel for this, and just see if or where there are any cold patches because this should tell you if or where there are any blockages. If you do take it off fill it up with water and leave it for a while to see if you have any slow leaks. When its under pressure these could be more of a problem. Thats why i took mine off because it had a few leaks in it.

If you do take it off .. make sure you don't hold it by the grills or whatever they are called. Hold the radiator by the top or the bottom otherwise you might bend the grills or damage it.
Good luck.
