Anyone know the wheelbase/overall length of a Major? Have not bought/rented a trailer yet, but know a Uhauler won't do it.

Dear Major, I just measured my '62 Super Major for you, and wheelbase is approximately 80". With a little overhang in the front and quite a bit in the back, I would say overall length is something in the neighborhood of 10'. Of course if you have a loader, lift arms or backhoe, you have to allow for those. I'm talking about the tractor unit tself. I Hope this helps you.

Thanks so much for that reply, the tractor is at a remote location, and not many around to measure.

Have lots of Ford books, but not much on Major stats.

Have another question, it has three "ring" weights on each rear, any idea what they weigh?

Did get the bare tractors weights from a search.

Dear Major, my tractor came with weights on the rear tires too, three of them on each. I took them off and have them in the shop. I would estimate their weight to be about 75-100 lbs apiece, but that's just a guess. I know I can't pick them up easily. And that's not to say that they are the same weights you have on yours. According to my reading, wheel weights are not much use with implements, but have their value in added traction when using a drawbar.

Woolman,

Thanks so much, your estimates are also what I am coming up with through other chats.

I plan on taking them off also, so as not to overload my trailer.
