hi, my uncle recently gave me an old Fordson Major that was in the family since my grandfather. The tractor has been stopped for about 5 years, the block is lost, someone that was working for my uncle said that he lost it, but he probably sold it (who can lose a block?). Anyway, i have the motor serial number because the stamp was in front of the diesel tank and not in the engine where its supposedly must be (maybe im wrong but thats what i read). So i will try to restore it a little, get a block and all the things missing and get it back to work. I was wondering if anyone can help me with the year of made and any other information that this serial number can provide... Thanks in advance :D (im from Chile so sorry for my english :/)

SN: 1349741

The stamp says that is a Fordson Major made in England like my good Ford 5000 :D

Thanks Miles. I was wondering if this date is the only info i can get from the serial number or maybe something else? Thanks.

I don"t think anyone out there or even Ford has a database that could tell us what options, etc were installed on this tractor.

One of the best resource books that I have is called "Fordson Major "New Major E1As" 1951-1964" by Allan T. Condie which I purchased from Classic Tractor Books in the UK. It is 64pgs only but has many b/w photos and goes through a lot of the changes year to year plus has all serial number and date stamp data.

Regards
