My '54 Major is having Knock broblems related to the injection system. While working on it I found a leaking line. Fixed it easily with silver solder. Anyways I was trying to find a new set of injector lines from either a yard of a diesel shop. I was told that the injector lines on a deisel should all be the same length. I've looked at 4 Majors in local yards whick have the same lines I currently have, all of them vary in length by about 6 inches.
The pictures in the service manual show equal length injector lines. Which is correct? Equal lenght lines or the ones I already have.

Thanks,
Heli

I measure 15 inches for all four lines, four different bends.

Thanks for looking. I found a set of 15" lines for $150. Soon as I get the new bearings in the pump I'll see how it works.

I still wonder if the variable straight lines were stock for the first few years. Anyone know when it was discovered that equal length lines were better?

Regards,
Heli

Read some of the posts about adding oil to injection pump at the upper side cover.

It shouldn't hurt anything unless you live near Portland, Oregon and the enviromentalists see you spill oil on the ground.

It is dark out, but all four tractors do seem to be the same length. But!!!, they all have different bends. I will get back tomorrow when it is light out to make sure.
