Will a super major head work on a Fordson Major?
I just aquired a plain Fordson Major with a cracked head. The seller provided a super major head but he doesn't know if it will work. I don't either.

I have used a 1959 Power Major head on a 1958 Major without trouble.I used the rocker arms and push rods from the Power Major as it matches the later head (bigger springs).Head gasket is different and you can use a later gasket, but hopefully you have the later sleeves with this motor?Word has it you cannot get a Major gasket anymore but there is a guy, Copperhead(I think that was his business name??) that can make a copy of any head gasket, so he claims.I found a NOS for mine. Also the intake and exhaust manifolds are different.Hopefully you have the Super Major manifolds, rocker arms, and push rods??If not just ask here and maybe we can get them to you.

I do not know where you got your sleeve kit from but it was not assembled by Ford.

The flat top liners are pre Fordson Power Major and were changed to the spigoted top because of head gasket failures with the more powerful engines.

If you have a liner mixture it is possible that the head gasket is not being held down on the flat top liners and will fail. You can use flat topped liners or spigoted liners but not a mixture of the two.

The later head gasket is OK with all models.
