Thanks for the replies guys. I'm the new guy when it comes to Fordsons and don't know what a flat top sleeve is compared to a spigoted one. So, when I get a service manual (if such a thing exists)I'll tear the engine down and probably be a bit wiser. Or at least have more questions, like, will the injectors from the Major fit in the Super Major head or will I need different injectors. And will the valves interchange? I've been told the tractor I'm working on is a 1952 model if that helps you any.

MARK 1, I see what you mean by the difference in manifolds. Will the Super Major manifold work, or can it be made to work, with the vacuum govenor? Incidently I'll be needing a manifold.

You will need an exhaust and intake manifold then? It is possible that the cracked Major head can be welded by a competent cast iron welder who has the know how. That would put you in a position where your don't have to find the Super Major parts.

What is on the Super Major head?Is it bare?It is probably best to try and match the Major springs to the original cam, lifters, rocker arms, and pushrods.I don't know where you are at but parts are easier to find outside the USA for these tractors.I am on the West Coast, USA.

I just had my one Major head reworked by a machinest.A lot of spec talk here and will leave that to a later time.Anyway, the point is that maybe the springs-valves are shot.Your machinest will know when he checks the seats, valves, seat depth, etc. Then you will know what you need for sure.

Hope this helps.
