I recently purchased a 1962 Fordson Super Major. I don't know a whole lot about tractors, but really want to learn. I'm looking for information on where I can locate a three point hitch assembly, a hood, and power steering cylinder. Any help anyone can give would be appreciated.

Look at a previous post by Wilson. He has power steering stuff off an early Major. He is in Montana.Draper Tractor has a few pieces, they are near here in SE Washington. Dan Miller, Redmond Oregon, has a Super Major(this is for you Woolman) in pieces, but no sheet metal.

You can get better sheet metal, from what little I know, from England. Otherwise you will need to be patient and keep your eye out for good steel parts.I bought a good piece off of Ebay.

I am sure you will get it done, good luck.

You need all the three point stuff? Is the tractor yellow? Is the pto shaft there? With strait or curved front braces from the bellhousing to the front end casting?

My Super Major came from Salt Lake via a USAF surplus auction a few years back. It also had a loader and backhoe at one time.It has a curved "industrial style front end".

Yes, I need all the 3 point stuff. Yes, it is yellow in color and it has the pto shaft. I'm not sure on the front braces. I will have to check and get back with you on that.

Draper has a web site.See if they have anything for you on the sheetmetal.

I am near Walla Walla, WA. Try to figure out what is missing on the three point. Maybe I can help.

What are you using the tractor for, may I ask?

Mark, I really appreciate all your help. As far as the three point I think I need everthing. Do you have a three point on your super, if so do you have any pics. I have horse property, and will be using it for various things, mostly on an arena. Thanks again

I have a Super that seems to have came from the same area as yours. Mine has a small USAF brass tag with two rivets on the right side of the front cowling that covers the radiator. It is a yellow tractor and after it's military service it was used as a highway mower on the Interstate somewhere in Utah.

I have three extra Fordson tractors that I am trying to figure out what to do with. That makes about one extra three point setup. One extra junky drawbar that has been welded up. Two extra drawbar swing plates (I don't know the technical name for it, sorry), one extra set of attaching hardware. It looks to be the same stuff as my Super.

Mark, what is with the yellow paint? I have a '59 Super with a 54E backhoe and a Wagner front loader. It too is yellow, although you can see that it was painted over the blue. Looks like it was a pretty good paint job at the time.
The wheels are the original red.
Interestingly enough my brother was in the RAF in the '50s and says that they had hundreds of Fordson Majors used for pulling aircraft about.
I am desperate for a pair of fenders for mine, it gets real scary in 6th gear with those giant tires on either side of your ears.
I'm in California if anyone knows of any, condition is not too important.
Roger.

Yeah, It seems that are Supers are very similar. Mine has curved front braces as well and is yellow. Not sure if it was used by the USAF. I'm interested in any three point stuff you may be willing to part with. You can e-mail me at panthers1964@hotmail.com. If you give me your phone number I can give you a call.

Mike, Thanks for all you help. I will just have to be patient with the sheet metal. Like I said before I'm new to tractors, and I'm trying to repair this one, and put into action for now, then possibly restore it in the future. I would appreciate any information anyone has on 3 point hitches for this unit. I was advised that it used to have a backhoe on the back. It also has a front end loader on the front. Thanks, Panther
