I have a 58 Dexta diesel. Has anyone put a block heater on their tractor? If so, where did you mount it and what type and part number did you use? Thanks for any information.

Bernie

yes, I got mine from carquest. I would think you could go to any good auto parts dealer. Just tell them you want a block heater for a 3-152 perkins diesel. You knock out the freeze plug on the starter side of the block and install the heater in place of the freeze plug. works great. easy install. the heater cost me 30 dollars.

I had a block heater installed when I had my 62' SD engine overhauled. The overhaul shop just went to Napa. They had no problem getting one or installing it. It is installed in the freeze plug hole at the rear of the generator. Works great, at 10 below takes only about 35-45 minutes to warm. Good luck!

Does someone know the dia of the frost plug? I'm 300km from my tractor and also would like a block heater.
