I had previously posted a message about these liners on my super major...i put two of each type in my engine. Before i put on the head i checked the height of the liners above the top of block,i got 3thou on all of them.when i put the head gasket on the top of block i notticed that the gasket sealing edge lays just outside the spiggot on the top of the spiggot liners. After seeing this i said heck with it and put her together.I have ran her snow blowing since and she works great.knock on wood have not blown the head gasket yet.

I don't think too many people have tried this. The closest to this for me was my 1958 flat top with a spigot Super Major new style fiber gasket. Blew after a couple of uses. There may have been other factors though, but unlikely. A few other factors that will play out is head warpage, block and head surface imperfections, compression/condition of piston/ring seal.If your pressure is good, surface condition excellant, proper torque specs, you might get away with it.

You will know when it blows out and you will lose power and there will be lots of smoke. Shouldn't hurt anything when it blows unless you are under full load/full power????

Hope this helps.

I used a copper style head gasket,is that the old type gasket.I was told that it was the one to use because of the 2 different types of liners. He has been a mechanic on tractors for about 55years.

I think you will be okay.Let us know if it fails though, please.

Again, mine was the non-copper kind for the later Super.
