I purchased my Fordson Dexta from an individual and he told me he wasn't sure of the manufacturing date of the machine. He thought it might be a 1957. Since my purchase about 5 years ago, the clutch has gone out on it and the Ford dealer I took it to says he needs a manual. i can't order any manual until I have serial number or a year. The numbers on the left hand side of the head is CO290029P; the Simms number is SPE3A605593; and on the starter the number is 54252722. I hope this info is good. Can anyone help me?

Claude,

None of your numbers are any help. Look on the web behind the starter were you will find a number that either begins 957E----- or 08B(C or D)----- . This is your serial number. Dexta's were not built until 1958 except for a few for the 1957 Smithfield Show.

Majorman: Thank you for your response. I looked at the tractor again and the following are the numbers I have found. I found two (2) numbers. One is 957E-7005 and the other is 957E-36403. Could someone have used two different parts?

Thank you again for your fast response. Your help was wonderful.
Claude

Claude,
These are part numbers of the castings and are the same on all tractors. The one you want is stamped not cast into the edge of the flange behind the starter.
