How many volts are supposed to be going to the preheat? I put a volt meter to mine to see if it was getting voltage and it reads 1.6 Volts. Is this correct?
another thing. Does the generator need to be re polarized if the battery is disconected?

Just purchased a Super Dexta. The preheat did not work. Found a wire loose at the preheat botton. When I connected it back, cleaned all the connections and the preheat coil I got a reading of just over 10 volts.

Thanks. I realize that may have sounded like a stupid question but I have heard tales of some sytems stepping the voltage down for glow plugs and heaters. Didnt know if that was true or not. The reply to your post above with the electric schematics will help me out a lot as well.
