Hey, I'm usually partial to green, but saw a nice Fordson major...dont know much about them and was hoping you could help...
It was a 4 cyl diesel, with poor paint, great tires, ran good, has a backhoe on the back!
Has a pto, but the backhoe was hooked up behind the engine block on the right side - where the JD clucth would be. Backhoe looked permanent with nice cylinders and outriggers...
Guy was asking $1400...was put out at the road today...need your help fast! How's that price?

BOUGHT IT! in reply to Markus, 03-29-2005 16:25:25
Bought the Majro with backhoe...hoses leak...tractor turns over, but has bad connections...pull started it, ran great. Smokes a lot...and it drips a drop of oil every 4 seconds from the front shaft area..the shaft that drives the fan blade. Seems pretty nice.

Better grab that deal real fast ! If you dont, I would love the backhoe for my Fordson Major ! Dont pass it up. Run and run fast!Mine is a 54 and is a good machine, oldie but runs great . Replacing the head gasket now. On the rite side of mine it has a pto belt pulley. makes a good footrest. Also I relocated the seat further back to avoid the shift lever from hitting important lower male reproductive parts when putting it in reverse !! A little hard to reach the brakes but they dont work anyway. HAHA! For some reason , every time I use that tractor I start humming the song from "Green Acres". Thats O.K. , I came from the N.Y.City area too ! Just love running that tractor. And dont worry I will check the brakes. New Holland and Agriline have been helpful in getting parts for her.I will have her up and shiny soon. Let us know what you decide.
