Hello,
I just bought a 1959 Fordson Major and need the following parts.
Fuel pump (the one with the glass bowl and hand lever)
Front crankshaft seal
Lucas generator
Starter switch (the one that is mounted to the top of the starter)
Differential drain plug

Where can I get these parts? Would Napa have anything that would work? If so, does anyone know the Napa part numbers? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bixley

You need parts - I too am a new Major owner (54 Diesel) and I was just in the Valu Bilt catalog last night and they have generators and starters and a whole lot of other Major stuff. Go to Valu bilt on google.....

Ford dealers still carry the fuel pump. As for the gen. it might be better to switch over to a GM alternator (very easy to swap)

Does anyone have any good info on a GM alternator swap? What alternator should we be looking for? What about wiring?

go to a alt. rebuild shop, tell him your looking for a self exiting gm gen. you only need to connect one main line minimum 10 gauge, it's the line with the post sticking out, the plug connecter is for the idiot light(not a neccessity), with this set up I have also switched to a neg. ground just reverse the battry cables,It's safe I've done it. the bottom bracket lines up with the old gen. bracket and I added one pc. of flat stock to the exhaust man. bolt. as soon as the alt. reaches rpm it will start charging, only one wire , very neat

Bixley,

You might want to check out>Link

You have to order them through a "authorized" dealership. I have been dealing with Dave from Moore Tractor in Fairfield California. They can be reached at 707-425-9545. Dave has treated me very well also.

Try Dan Miller 877-498-2370. Also maybe Draper Tractor in Colfax, Washington. These two have some Fordsons at their tractor wrecking yards.
