Where is the level check for the rear axle, on the Fordson Major Diesel, or do I just put in 9 gallons, and leave it at that?

Also, do I use the same 30W oil in both, the gearbox, and the rear axle, or is the 30W oil just for the rear axle, and something else goes in the gearbox(if so, what)?

There is a dip stick to the front and left of the the gear shift lever. This is the check for the axle and hydraulics. Just in front of the PTO lever is the fill hole for the transmission. There is a level mark on the casting when you remove the plug. Both take about 10 gallons and are seperate.

Original manuals indicate 80/90 weight oil for both but in about "60 Ford changed and said SAE30 was now their recommended oil. Somewhere I have read that gear oil and engine oil are not compatible. Make sure your clean both with a few gallons of 1/2 kersone/oil before refilling.

Also make sure you clean the screen and magnetic filters above the axle drain plug.
