I have sent the head of my 52 major(gas) to a repair shop to have the valves done, and they need to know the cu. in.displacement of this motor. I'd appreciate a reply, so I can hurry them along. Is this the same block as used in the diesel?

I think they wanted the displacement to help them identify the motor, and possibly, to assist in ordering valves, etc. if required for the head. These tractors are not all that common in western Canada, and I think parts for them might be a little hard to find here.

Could be a bit of a problem. The petrol Major had a smaller displacement than the diesel or paraffin versions. Some people put the larger bore liners and pistons from the paraffin version into the petrol.

Petrol : 95mm bore .. 3.26 l,
Paraffin and Diesel : 100mm bore .. 3.61l,
Stroke on all three: 115mm.

Interested question; Why do they need to know capacity to do the valves? Is it because of the head gasket size?
