Oil weight for trans. and PTO

I bought a fordson major diesel year 1958 that was converted into a backhoe I need to know what weight oil to use in the transmission and PTO. Any help will be appreciated.

It's a case of either/or. In 1958 Ford reviewed the oil specification in the gearbox and rear axle. They recommended 30W in both for all tractors back to 1951. This was to allow just one oil to be used in engine, gearbox and rear axle so reducing the number of oils a farmer had to stock. However if 90W is easily available this too would be OK.

I've got the same tractor, I've been using 90w gear oil and heavier in the summer!
