Hello! I am a happy owner of a 62 Supermajor with frontloader, it has not been used for 14 years but still runs pretty god. And I am planning to do service to the rear lift wich is not moving at all. Anyone knows o god way to free the rear liftcover
from the rearaxelhousing. Its been sitting there for ages possibly and it feels like its glued. Should i use a thin wire maybe to cut through the sealing?
Any ideas? Chears fellow tractorians.

Have you removed the two nuts, one either side, from underneath the lift arm shaft? They can easily be missed. Otherwise a lever between the top cover and the rear axle is the way forward, you would have difficulty getting all round with a wire as there are pipes, dowels and studs under there.

Actually i had forgotten the two nuts under the lift arm shaft, thank you for informing me. Nevertheless, to actually losen the cover i used heatgun, crc556, a little hydraulic lift and a crowbar not to mention a lot of patiance.
I changed all the o-rings and the ram piston seal and cleaned all the valves. By the way i used a little handdriven wire winch fastened in the cage frameroof to lift it out of the tractor. Now the lift is working like a charm, i can lift my volvo 245 and leave it hangin for a week.
Cheers

Hi,
Just removed my lift cover and had the same problem.
I used two small hydraulic jacks packed top and bottom ends with wood and slowly jacked between top of axles and lift arm shaft.

Worked a treat for me and no damage done.
