Hi, I'm a new owner of a model F.This is my first attempt at rebuilding a tractor. My tractor year? has an english made engine with a high compression head.It has crack across the top of the water jacket. If I can't fix it, can I replace it with a standard head? The cylinder bore is 4+ 1/8".It also has a Holley 234 manifold with a functional float chamber assembly. Can I goe this route with the carburetion on this engine and run it on kerosene? How hard is it to find Holley 234 mixing chamber etc. etc.? What yr. was trans.brake introduced? Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul, English model "N" and U.S. model "F" heads are not interchangeable due to the design of the water pump flange. If your tractor has the water pump you must use an English head. If your tractor has only an English block installed with no waterpump you must use the "F" head and you can replace it with a standard head regardless of the larger bore. If you need a head I have them butchhowe@aol.com You can go with the 234 setup but parts are very expensive and hard to find in useable condition. Transmission brake was introduced 1922/23.

Thanks Butch, for the infomation. My tractor doesn"t have a waterpump so I have an "F" head.If my crack repair fails I will contact you about a head.My quest for 234 parts continues.Having a good manifold with a good float chamber and exhaust shunt and lever I thought this would be the way to go.The elusive mixing chamber etc. must be out there somewhere$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ thanks again Paul
