Awhile ago there was a discussion on a replacement carburator that would work on a fordson f in a pinch. I think someone suggested using a carb off a comet 6 cylinder. It is a low profile carb. I tried it and have to run it just about fully choked. What modifications should have to be made in order to make it work? Like drilling the high speed jet etc. Thanks in advance Roger

The first Fordson I had was modified to use a carb from a Model A Ford. The manifold was simply flipped so the updraft carb could be used and it had a vertical exhaust stack. Worked pretty well.

I think I like that idea because than it would have a hi speed adjustment on the carb Thanks

Hi Roger, I've used the same carb on a Fordson manifold and didn't have that problem. I don't believe any other modifications are necessary. You might clean and put a kit in the carburetor. May be a jet plugged.

Thanks Butch; I took the carb apart and blew it all out. Put it back together and it did run better. Now I have to explain to my wife why It makes such a mess when I drive it around the driveway. No, really she is a farm girl and understands. Rubber tires would be nice. Roger
