Disc Brake problems

I have just reconditioned the disc brakes on my 1961 Super Major. When rebuilding them the new linings protrude past the edge of the housing which causes the brakes to lock against the outer cover when bolted together. Has anyone had a similar experience?
I have thought of either planning the actuating plates down 1mm each side or making a gasket for each cover plate, any ideas would be gratefully received.

It seems like somebody should have turned down the brake housing in order to compensate the wear of old disc linings and possibly the expanding ball races may show a worn point. Then let turn of from the brake surface on housing to get the correct play. Check also that the balls are as new, rusted balls don't work well. A good idea is to change the o-ring seal for differential lock rod. Notice carefully the position of the nut at the end of lock rod!
