I just bought a 1959 Fordson Power Major Diesel. It has a very heavey duty built loader and a backhoe. I have not found any ID tags or info in the equipment. I would like to know what I have in order get the proper manuals. Posted pictures on Picture ID site. Hope someone can help. It has a front dirven pump - what grade hyd fluid should I use? THANK YOU

Looks like a Sherman hoe (Power Digger) to me, but I am not sold on the loader being Sherman. Looks like it could be a Johnson loader. Sherman Backhoe conversions usually have a the pump mounted where the belt pulley drum is located, although if that pump failed somewhere along the way I can imagine it being replaced with a front pump (much easier to adapt a new pump that find parts for the Sherman).

I look at the pictures and I am not sure what make it is, but I can tell you that they are not Ford units. Ford's were ALOT heavier than the one ones you have. Believe me I KNOW.

I don't think they are Sherman either but i can't say for sure as i can't find the pictures i had of a sherman. If I find them I'll post them.
Good Luck
