I bought a 1927 Fordson with a plow on the right side behind the front axle. I understand that Fordson didn't make plows for their tractor so who would have been the maker?

Hi Neal, Without seeing it and if it is a disk plow then it would almost surely be an Athens Plow. The axle would be extended to the right. This company made an aftermarket plow for the fordson tractor. I have seen a few. I think the company was in Georgia. Is there an Athens Georgia? Hope this helps you out. Butch

You don't see many of these around; I suspect that most were picked up in the scrap-metal drives during WWII to make into stuff to throw at the Germans or Japanese. There was one on eBay a few weeks ago, though. Can't remember what it sold for.

In addition to Athens (which was Athens, Tennessee), there was also a company in Jacksonville, Florida that manufactured plows for the Fordson: the Hester Plow Company. They offered single-disc, 2-disc and regular moldboard plows.

So, Neal -- Did you see your plow among those pictures listed? I may be able to scratch up some other pics if those ones didn"t help to I.D. yours. And, once you get your tractor up and running, I"d be interested in hearing how well a tractor-mounted plow like that works. (We always used a 2-bottom trailer trip plow, a John Deere No. 44 and liked it fine.)

Thanks for responding. The Plow matched the Athens plow. Thanks for the ability to print the ad. I will add this to my collection of other material fot the tractor. I'm in the process of replacing parts that were missing. Example..both gas caps, radiator cap, air washer caps and all the wiring. The previous owner said the head was cracked and couldn't be fixed so I have purchased another one. It wasn't a high compression head but it was the only one I could find. I have gotten all the parts except the gas caps and radiator cap. By the way, all the tools were still in the tool box. I've never work with a tractor this old. It has gotten a lot of attention. I can't wait to get it running. Thanks again.

Neal
