Bought a Dexta on Friday w/ inoperable 3pt. Owner said it worked fine for 2 yrs and then quit after having it serviced by a NH dealer.

I drove it home (6 miles) and shortly found the inlet filter mesh was completely caked w/ congealed oil so I cleaned it all out and the 3pt works great (sorta jerky). But in the process I noticed the output filter (old Purolator w/ no p/n) is totally blocked and I'm sure the flow is only possible by the bypass valve.

Does anyone have a Purolator p/n for a Dexta hyd pump exhaust filter?

Thanks.

Hi Chaser,
the return filter is still available at your local NH Dealer. Ask for filter part# 81800792. And check out my website here:

Purolator MF 178 is stamped on mine. I need one too, but haven't found one. No book I have gives a cross reference to Puro number.

NAPA said if I bring it in they'll match it up. I'll let you know what happens.

BTW, in the process of removing the exhaust filter I removed the snap ring that holds the check valve in place and lost the retaining washer that keeps the spring captured against the valve. I substituted a 1/4" flat washer as it fit quite snugly, but since the original item has left for parts unknown I"d like to know what I lost. Was it merely a washer or did it have some other profile that I should be aware of?

Thanks.
