I have the chance to buy a Fordson powered Austin Pup road roller. I believe it to be from the mid 1920's. At one time there was a wooden conopy over the machine sim. to what you would find on a steam tractor. It appears to be pretty compleat. Does any one here know anything about these? I have looked and posted inquires all over the net with no luck.I own and have restored a few farm tractors but I have never even seen one of these at any of the shows I have been to. It looks cool! Any help would be welcomed. Thanks

This looks very very close to the Austin I am looking at.I think the conopy is shorter in length on the one you have pictured. I will try to go get pictures today of it.The austin wheels are very good cond. The scrapers are still in good shape! There is no way my wife would except the story yhat I got it for HER to roll the yard!! I will have to stick to my story that it is an "investment"

Karl -- I have not seen a Fordson-powered roller of the brand you describe, but the ones I *have* seen usually sell for around $1500. As far as restoration of the power uuit goes, most Fordson parts are readily available. As long as the rollers are in good condition with no big chunks broken out of them or severe rust pitting, I'd say, Go for it. I've always thought how handy it would be to have such a roller for my lawn. Kind of hard for me to justify it to the missus, though!
Good luck, and post some pictures as you progress.
