Inherited a 59 FPM that did not run. The motor has been rebuilt from the ground up and I should be getting it back within the next few weeks. I talked to my mechanic yesterday and he said that the angle drive ( part # E1ADKN-17373-C ) that drives the tachometer is not working. I found a company ( speedograph richfield ) in the UK that will rebuild the angle drive for me or I can order a new one.

Does anyone know a source in the US that can rebuild them or a place that I can order a new one from in the US???

Also has anyone had Speedograph do work for them in the past ??? and if so what was your impression of them ??

Thanks,

Scott

Scott,
Speedograph are the only people to make these drives and the other parts for the gauges. I think that even if you get parts in the US they will be Speedograph. Unless you get one from a scrap yard.

They are a very good, honest company but because of the limited market, pares are not cheap. Another good honest company over here is Bertie Dunlop. Put that in Google for the web site.

Majorman,

Thanks for the reply. I sent Speedograph a email yesterday and currently awaiting there reply about repairing the angle drive.

Also, since the motor is essentially brand new at this point in time do you have any advise on how to properly break it in ??? My mechanic has been running the motor some to work out the kinks and is going to adjust the valves before he gives it back to me.

The tractor has also sat for the past 5+ years, would you recommend changing the transmission oil, and rear end oil out before we put it back together or would you recommend getting the oil hot and then changing it ??

Thanks again,

Scott

Sorry Scott, missed your post.

The best way to run that engine in is to put it straight into the hardest work you can find! Don't do any light work or leave it running light. On the other hand, don't rev the guts out of her, run her at about 1700 to 1800 rpm under load.

Yes I would change all the oils. Use a multigrade, possibly the same as your rngine oil so you don't have lots of grades of oil to buy.

You can drain them cold if you are prepared to wait for it to drain.
