I have two problems with my Major.
#1 I keep getting diesel fuel in the crank case. Installed new fuel pump diaoham, adjusted valves, checked the return line from fuel injectors. I was told by the injector repair shop that the injector pump would not leak fuel into the crank case. Do you think I have a stuck injector?
#2 My hydrolic was slow to lift, then upon lifting hydrolic fluid came gussing out from the control box under the seat? Does anyone have an answer to that and how to repair? Thanks Myassitis

If you have Re: 1957 Fordson Major in reply to Jim Boettcher, 07-18-2006 09:01:03
Any cylinder that is dead or not firing from time to time especily if it is from low compression this will push diesel fuel past the piston into he crank case.

I'm with Miles on this. The only way for diesel to get into the oil is by the leakoff pipe on the injectors or the fuel lift pump. It is possible for either an injector cap or coupling pipe to be loose but you would see this.

The injection pump has no connection at all to the crank case.

You do not say which Major you have and there are two different hydraulic systems. On the later tractors it could be leaking plugs on the auxillary service chest. All down to faulty "O" rings.

#1 The only way to get in diesel in is thru the leak off line or lift pump. I would suspect your lift pump is at fault. You can buy new for < $75

#2 Sounds like new gaskets and o-rings are in order

Regards
