Mark,

Having problems with some seals leaking. Changed the oil to SAE 40 and added some seal restore and she is still leaking. I saw your post about a breather bolt on top of the tranny to vent the hot air. I have been trying to find the bolt on my tractor. Were is the bolt located or which of the bolts should be the breather bolt ??

Thanks,

Scott

Scott, you will have to split her and replace the seals. You had a problem fitting her back together and it is possible that you damaged something.

The breather bolt would not give you problems, there is too much space in the box and nothing to increase the pressure in such a short time. It is possible that the seals had stuck to the shaft through standing and you have torn off the sealing lip.

The breather bolt is the long headed bolt on the steering box mounting.

Thanks Majorman, I guess I was hoping to avoid splitter her again. Probably grasping for straws I guess.

Would you happen to have a picture of a pair of splitting jacks ??? or would it be best to use a overhead crane to hold the front end up while so I can wheel her away.

Thanks,

Scott

I use a tractor and front loader. I did have a splitting trolley I made up but that got lost in a fire.

An overhead crane would be the best. Block up the gearbox and move the engine away.

Don't try and move her apart on a trolley jack. She might fall off it.
