I know someone who will sell me this tractor. I have been looking for a snow removal tractor. What model and approximate year of this tractor? Is this tractor rare? Is it easy to find parts for? What is it worth? Does it have a live PTO, Hydraulics, 3 point, or power steering? How many cubes? Is it gas or Diesel? How much horse power? This one has been setting outside for about 10 years. Are parts interchangeable with other tractors? Which ones? Click on the link for the PIC. I hope this works.

Tires? in reply to Obsession, 09-07-2006 19:40:55
The Major has 18.4-30 rear tires and 7.50-16 front tires. They seem a little large. Most of the tires need to be replaced. What is the most common orginal size for this tractor? Did it come new with tires that large. I was thinking of using 16.9-30 and 6:00-16. What do you guys think?

Id go ahead and get that tractor if I were you, especially if its a decent price. I paid $1000 for one with siezed rod and main bearings, and bad hydraulics, 1 complete teardown later, and $1500 more dollars worth of parts, machine work, oil, filters, and misc. got her running great again. Its worth it to me man,... its fun too!! It looks as if that tractor in the pic probably has half the problems mine did in the beginning. Go for it!
I love mine, and have been offered $5000 cash for it from a farmer around here due to its running perfectly. I gladly turned the money down!

The engine is loose and I think it might run with a battery, new fuel, and filters. It is a diesel. The oil is pretty black, but there is not water in the oil. The 3 point hitch is welded up and pretty ugly. One back tire is completely flat and bad and the other back tire is pretty good. The front tires should be replaced, but hold air. It has three sets of wheel weights on the inside of the rims. It has a fairly nice loader with a hydraulic tilt bucket and live pump out the front of the tractor. It does not have power steering. The sheet metal is fair to good, but the front emblem is missing. It has a few smaller leaks.

The year can range from anywhere in the early 50's to mid 60's. There were differnt models, Petrol (gas) Majors, Diesel Majors, Super Majors (Diesel), they are kinda rare, atleast in the middle of Kansas...lol, Parts arent too hard to find, SParex, Bareco, they carry parts, so does eBay occasionally. I also have a tractor salvage nearby with 4 known majors. They are dang good tractors, VERY tough, and dependable, easy to start. Mine is a 62 Super Major which has a diesel, I believe the diesels are 220 C.I. and like 65 HP or something.

I forgot... your link to a pic doesnt work, there sint even a link to click on. And also, they have a 3PT with a PTO. Some of the last Supermajors had power steering, like 62-64 or so. Mine has the live PTO and the Raised PTO.
