The number on the engine block below the injection pump is EIADKN6015 with a T2 beneath it as far as I could tell. I will leave some pictures of the lift.

Thats a Fordson Major Diesel Industrial. I would suspect somewhere about 1954-1957. It has the brakes on the half shafts not on the bull pinion shafts.

Those lift arms are terrible. You will want the old type arms. These were fitted from 1952 to 1960.

The number you gave is just a casting number and is the same on all tractors. If you have no number under No.1 injector then it will be on the flange behind the starter. It will be stamped in not cast.

If you go to>Link

The industrial version of this tractor is a bit of a rare beast. Thats why it is painted yellow.

Am I correct to say I need to know I have a 1952 to 1960 Fordson Major Diesel Industrial for gathering most parts? Are their any 1952 to 1960 non-industrial Major parts that I should not buy because they are industrial specific?

The serial number tells me the exact year it was made. Do I need to know this to move forward or can I get this later? What are all of the differences between the Major Diesel Industrial and the Major Diesel? Do they have the same engine? Are there any books that I can buy? Thanks for your help.

Yes you really need that number. It is not good enough to say that it is between 1952 and 1960 as there were many mods along the way. Lift arms were one of the few things that remained the same.

The industrial version has only a few differnces from the agricultural version. Brakes on the axle was the main one. You might even find it has a fitting for a speedometer. There will be an extra drive in the gearbox for this

The engines and the rest of the tractor will be the same as the Ag. version.

Workshop manual should cover the two tractors, mine does but its an original Fordson one that I have owned for 40 years. If you can get the original manual from E-Bay or another place that would be OK. This site also sells manuals.

Hi;
photo of my 1954 Major as purchased which had got a pair of Super lower arms which feature the interchangeable ball ends for cat 1 or 2 - wrong for the Major & Power Major.
Note my Major is slightly fifferent from yours, mine is the KFD68 Orchard conversion, lowered height & reduced length, but the main casting is the same as a normal Major.
Cheers David

Hi Buddy;
You definately have a 1952-7 MAJOR. The Major's have a different linkage to the Supers. Super used top cross shaft with splines, the Major has square section top shaft. Major & Power have larger leveling boxes & slotted ajustable drop arms. Major & Power have fixed cat 2 balls, Super has removable cat 1 or cat 2 balls
I'll post you some photos of my 1954 Major linkage
NOTE :- the unrestored photo shows the lift afrms are off a Super which had removable ball ends. The correct arms for your tractor have fixed car 2 balls only. The restored photo has correct lower arms.
Email me if you need more photos. Cheers David email flatfender@arepo.com

By looking at the paint I would say the three point lift was added later. The tractor is yellow and the three point is blue. This major is an industrial so I could see it having the lift added later. If the lift was added later it may not be off of the same year major. Is possibly then still be a power major? I offered the owner $750 and I think he really wants $1200. This may be too much. It probably needs tires, a battery, and about $500 worth of three points parts. The engine is loose, but who knows what else is wrong with it. Is the tractor worth $1200?

I noticed the butcher job on the lift arms. There is a bolt on each side that looks like it holds them on. The problem is that I don’t know what the arms are supposed to look like. Can I take the homemade arms off and replace them with a good set? I have not yet purchased this tractor. I think I may be able to buy it for scrap price. Check previous posts for more details.

The picture shows the arms being welded to the the shaft. The bolt used to hold the orginal ones on. They just had big square holes in them with the bolt in the end. If it runs I would say $500 would be a decent price. Tire looks ok but maybe rotten the more that works the better ;)). Some parts are hard to get
