Hey All:

I have a 1963 FSM. I recently acquired a Roadless traction kit for it. The kit however is in the Caribbean on another tractor. I was down in August and brought up the piece that goes between the Transmission and Gearbox, I do have to rebuild it as the gears and housing are okay, but the bearings are seized, it was full of water.

The front diff is just too heavy to ship from an economic point of view.

Question:

I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
The front axle was apparently off a GMC 6x6 WWII army truck
Does anyone know if there are any wrecking yards or surplus army stores in my area where i could pick up one of these axles.

In the alternative Does anone know whether I could use a substitute axle for the four wheel drive.

If so what type of axle and are there any wrecker yards close to me where I Could pick up one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Kenneth

Hi GWG.

Thank you for the reply, can you kindly contact me off line at armour864@yahoo.ca with the prices and your location.

I only want the front axle, I do not have the space to store the whole truck. But if I have to I will buy the whole truck.

Kenneth

A word of warning.

The Roadless front axle has to be matched exactly to the rear axle. It is not OK just to fit any axle. You will also need the correct size front wheels to get the right rolling radius or you might find that the cost of gearbox repairs and final drive components outweigh the shipping costs. IMHO.
