Hi Majorman, a member of our tractor club has posted a picture in Help Identify of a DDN Major with a strange frame mounted on it in place of the chassis rails. Hope you can help. Thanks MJ

MJ,
At an auction site several years ago (a few days before the actual auction) I noticed a Fordson with the same unique frame. It was in an advanced state of disassembly (a restoration effort that fizzled out). That particular major had a VERY heavy backhoe mounted on it (not a Sherman or Johnson), and an equally heavy loader was laying next to it. The rear axle seemed to be a heavier design also, but don't quote me on that. The drop frame rails went under the rear axle and attached to the backhoe. I had the wrong date for that auction, and missed out on the Major. I have no idea what it sold for, unfortunately. As far as the badge goes, I don't think it was present on the Major I was looking at. That was the only time I had seen that type of frame on a Major. Made it look like a Low-Boy style tractor.

MJ,

Don"t know what the frame was for. Could be a mid mounted mower or even a ditcher.

The Major however is a very early one, the badge was mounted there before it was moved back. Any chance of a serial number or casting code?
