Hi
I need to service my 1954 Fordson Major Diesel but get conflicting
advice about which oil to use. Is the following list O.K.
Sump and Air cleaner - 20W/50
Gear box, Rear Axel, Steering and Hydraulics SAE90.

Also I would like new filters for the fuel and oil as well as
new seals for the diesel lift pump. Can anyone recommend a U.K.
(South of England) supplier?

Thanks
Dominic

You can use the same oil in everything if you like though I would have gone for a straight 30W diesel engine oil. Fordson specifications changed in 1959 and although 90W is still OK over here, so is the lower W rating.

Vapormatic and Sparex still do filters and lift pump parts. Google them for your nearest dealer. Old Fordson dealers or Case New Holland dealers may still hold parts.

There are no seals as such in the lift pump, only a diaphram which, if faulty, will let diesel into the sump.

Try Link There is lots of information on there specific to Majors.
