My 1954 Major isn't charging. Where is the regulator located? Should it be inside the dashboard box?

The regulator is the blue box located to the right of the air intake. I should have a cover on it that you can take off and you will see a bakelite regualtor with wires coming out of the top and the bottom. The above is a aftermarket unit, yours should be similar to B5253.

You might wanna make sure your generator is putting out enough juice. You should be able to test it with a volt meter. Unless your tractor has been changed it should be positive ground.

After I hooked my genny back after it was rebuilt I was seeing approximately 13 - 13.5 volts coming in on the battery.

Thank you all. I have never really understood tractor electrics - am just not wired that way. Will fit a new wiring harness and then test regulator and generetor to see what happens. David

Follow your field and or armature wires.. they have to hit the regulator...

I don't know either.. but even if it was a 3rd brush.. it would have a cutout inline with the armature..
