I was given a nonrunning Super Dexta. It has all the body parts. The fenders are bad however. Will require repair. It has one nearly new rear tire. The other is bad. One front is cut. It needs a boot. I have been unable to get the engine started. Today I talked to an injector pump rebuilder. He said the rack in the injector pump is stuck from sitting for 4 years. It must be sent to a rebuilder. The charge will be close to $1000. I have found them on line for $750 plus shipping. I have figured the cost of repair parts plus a new rear tire at $250 plus installation. A new front tire at $65. It comes out to $2000 total and not even touch the motor or tranny. I found the inner air filter element is missing and the clamp that holds the oil bowl on is gone. The bowl was held on with wires. I am afraid the engine has been run with out proper air cleaning. My question is is it worth it to fix this one up.I have already spent many hours and over $100 on parts such as solenoid and key switch plus paint supplies. Is a runnig Super Dexta with good tire and new paint worth much over $2000? I would appreciate some feed back thank you .

What a Super Dexta is worth is a varied and subjective topic. I saw a Super Dexta sell for $4500, but it was show quality immaculate. Seen many sell for $3500 or so, and many trashed and worn for $1000-1500. I bought my Super Dexta for $420.00 sight unseen. Wow, I stole it.
I have a Dexta and a Super Dexta, both fitted with 152 liners and piston. Both have live PTO, while the Super has differential lock.
I like the way I just bump the starter and they start, no matter how long they sit.
Hardly a part, I cannot get, but not all parts from one place. This may be a problem for some people. One FNH dealer can get almost everything, the next says you can't get parts for them anymore, depends on partman experience and tenacity.
I like mine, and will likely find another to use, since the wife claims the Dexta as her's.
Good luck with your decision.
Wayne

I call my Power Major the money pit.

But I also have a tractor that has a new engine, new seals, new front steering components, new clutch. I personally look at the cost of a new tractor with the same HP and the money that I have spent and I am still about 10,000$ PLUS ahead.

The old ones are alot easier and cheaper to work on but don't expect a machine that you might not have to turn a wrench on here or there.
