The diesel line got stopped up and I had to get it cleaned. I also changed the fuel filter but now the tractor will not start. It will fire with either. I'm guessing it needs priming. the fuel is flowing now to the pump. Can I pull start it to get it primmed? I pulled the tractor for a little ways (few hundred yards) but it did not even try to start. Any suggustions? I don't have much experence on diesels. thanks

Bleed fuel filter, get out air.

With wrench open injector lines at injector and crank till fuel flows, then tighten and start tractor.

If your fuel supply pump has a lever on the bottom of it, loosten the two 1/2 bolts on the top of your filter housing and pump the lever till diesel comes out of the top of filter housing. retighten bolts. then loosten the injection lines about 1 turn and crank motor till dsl starts to spurt around the fittings, tighten them back up. should get you going in a hurry.
PS if you dont have a pump primer lever you can loosten the fuel bolts and blow in the fuel tank with your mouth to force the fuel through.

And stop using the starting fluid. They say it's deadly for a Dexta.

My first Dexta was an ether baby. Hard to start, but ran OK for a year or so, then began to lose power and was harder to start. Then had to warm with propane torch thru glow plug hole to make it start on a warm day.
When I tore it down, the rings fell off the pistons like corn off the cob in a sheller. Ether used conservative is fine. IMHO the Dexta set up right starts easy. When you need ether above freezing, start saving for an overhaul.
