Hi
My father and I are new to a Fordson Super Major
We got a snow blower with it.
We cant disconnect the pto unless we shut the tractor off and start it up again.
A person told me that there was a pin in the linkage that I will have to pull out so the clutch pedal has a 2 stage process.
The first to disconect the drive wheels and further down to disconnect the pto.
I took a quick look at it when I went to fathers and it looked hard to figure how to position the linkages.
I was wondering if someone had a link or pictures or could describe how to make the clutch snowblower friendly.
Thanks

I have a 1963 FSM (Diesel.

Look at the clutch pedal. when you press it down it goes down through what looks like a elongated metal box. In that box there is a hole which you can put a pin through, this will stop you from disengaging the pto every time you press in the clutch. The first stage of the clutch disengages the transmission without disengaging the PTO.

If you pull the pin out the clutch pedal will be able to press down further and this will disengage the Drive and the PTO.

A word of warning though. I have a friend who has a power major with a snowblower on the back and he finds the tractor is not low geared enough in reverse to really use the snowblower effectively.

There is a reduction gear adaptor plate that fits betwen the Transmission and Diff, but they are very rare, I have only seen one on Ebay in the last year.

The FSM are great tractors I love mine. I have a front blade and a back blade on mine. I use it for clearing snow in my driveway. I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. This winter we have hardly gotten snow so I have used it once so far this winter. Would not part with it, even if the cost benefit analysis has been blown out the window as per initial cost of the tractor versus snow removal.

Its just another toy for big boys.

You should get a manual, there always are some on ebay.

Rugged, dependable tractor, but like with anything you have to treat it right and maintain it. Once you do that your grandkids will also enjoy it.
