Industrial Major diesel Questions

I posted a few months back regarding the purchase of an Industrial Major with good front-end loader with live pump for purchase. I am not sure if it is a major or power major yet. The tractor has set outside for about ten years and not been run in that time. I will be able to purchase the tractor for $500, but it is in tough shape. The engine is loose, but it needs new tires. It also needs one rear rim, and many lift parts. The tin is poor to fair, but I have seen worse. What is the Value of this tractor in working condition? What is the value of the tractor restored?

Does anyone know if the rear bolt pattern is the same as a WC Allis or Farmall F20? I have some wheels lying around and I was wondering if I could use them on the tractor until I can budget for some proper replacement tires and determine if the tractor is worth salvaging. If the tractor is too far-gone I may adapt the loader onto an Allis Chalmers and part out the major.

I am finishing the restoration of a burned 1974 4000SU. The project is going well and should be completed before fall. I want to get this done and then do some work on a D19 Allis before I start on the major.

See the PICS

Around here, that tractor would be worth around $2500 to $3500 in running condition, with that loader on it, but prices are a lot different in other parts of the country. I don't know about industrial tractor tire sizes, but I have one Major farm tractor with 18.4-30s on it, and the other ones have 16.9-30s. They all have 7.50-16s on the front.

Still need help - please? in reply to Obsession, 04-23-2007 19:45:31
I found out today that my brother has the proper sized front and rear tires for this major off of some junked out AC Gleaner combines.

7.50 by 16 for the front -off the rear of a Gleaner
18.4 by 30 for the back - off the front of a different Gleaner

These are the sizes the tractor has on it. I was told the industrials used this size. Is this correct? The tires from the gleaner are 50% to 75% in tread wear and I can get them for free! Four new tires and new tubes would run me about $1000 or more installed.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
