My Father has a question about his 1923 Fordson (I hope I get it correct): he wants some information
about filling the crankcase and transmission with oil. He wants to know if you fill everything through the crankcase or if some oil is put in
through the opening in the side of the transmission. He says everything seems to be interconnected in the oilpan/transmission casting.

If I haven't made any sense maybe someone who doesn't mind being contacted by phone could e-mail your phone number and I'll have my father call you (he dosen't have e-mail).

The two are separate. There is a plate inside the transmission case not very far ahead of the gearshift lever that divides the two cavities. Add engine oil up by the fan belt on the left side and add gear oil at the plug below the gearshift lever. The large and small plugs on the bottom of the tractor just behind where the engine block and transmission are joined are used when changing engine oil. Remove them both since the large plug drains a sediment area. You may even find condensate in there so both should be drained at the same time.

My Fordson is also a '23 model. It is serial no. 283322. How close to this is your Dad's?
